. ought to be more exciting than usual. let's see. president obama's state of the union address last night lasted almost exactly 60 minutes, with not quite 7,000 words. it was a little longer than average in terms of word count. the speech was interrupted 83 times for applause, according to a tally by the national journal. there was no notable disruption in the audience this year, no moment like a republican congressman yelling "you lie" the way congressman joe wilson did during the joint address to congress back in 2009 there was no moment like a supreme court justice muttering a rebuttal to the president from the rows up front the way justice samuel alito did in 2010. there was one moment of the speech, though, last night where you heard something from the room. you heard a gasp from the room in response to something that the president said. >> we should follow the example of the north miami woman named desiline victor. when desiline arrived at her polling place, she was told the wait to vote might be six hours. as time ticked by, her concern was not with her tired body or aching feet, b

barack obama are trying to figure out how to punish north korea. they spoke on the phone and agreed to push for additional sanctions through the united nations security council. abe told obama that the nuclear tests severely damages peace and security not only in northeast asia but around the globe. he said he wants officials in both administrations to work together to bring in financial sanctions. abe cited a previous u.s. sanction as a good example. in 2005 officials at the treasury department imposed penalties on u.s. financial institutions that dealt with north korea. obama said u.s. officials too want to cooperate. he said world leaders need to agree on a firm response. north korean scientists conducted a nuclear test on tuesday in violation of previous u.n. resolutions. abe is set to visit washington later this month to meet with obama in person. >>> obama's new secretary of state gave world leaders a push of his own. john kerry said they need to show they are serious about containing nuclear arms. >> north korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile program are a threat now

. president obama made the annual state of the union address last night. the president told congress and the american people that the state of the union is strong. i bet even lincoln said that when the state of the union was happening during his era. the democrats say for everything obama says, the republicans cheer for nothing obama says. but there was some bipartisanship, most notably, this nice little moment. you can see here as the president made his way to the podium, he ran into mark kirk, the republican senator, and gave him the exploding fist bump.
